Meeker Days

And we know that all things work together for good
to them that love God  Romans 8:28

How awesome to see God work in circumstances that seem like they were meant for harm.

This year the Meeker Days folks decided to put the Pierce County Human Life booth next to the bathrooms. It sure seemed like they were trying to put us in a less than favorable spot. But praise God, we had TONS of traffic. In fact I saw and spoke with far more people this year than last and we had a very prime spot last year. Those who had been by the Planned Parenthood booth reported that they had very few visitors. We had hundreds!!!

The message is so positive and the young people always seem to be very interested. Here are just a few testimonies from some of the folks that came out to help.

A couple of girls about 14 years old stopped by the booth and were very interested in the message. They were working at another booth at the park and came back about 4 times with different groups of friends to show them what they had seen and learned. The message of life is so powerful. It is truly amazing to see how easily life wins out. The battle is ours!

Today in children's church one of the students, Nathan told us he went to Meeker Days. He was given a little 12 week unborn baby model. He was told that the baby has all its features and own blood. He showed it to another student and was showing it at church.
He said he will continue to show it around. He is 10 years old. God wanted you and us to know that handing out the babies does work and creates little boys and girls that are growing up Pro-life.

At Meeker Days, at the PC Human Life booth, I saw –
The young people and young pregnant women and young mothers – do you catch the theme?  Youth!

It’s this group that we have the responsibility to educate about life – life in the womb and the importance of life at all stages.
I was privileged to be a small, small part of this education while sharing a volunteer role at PC Human Life.  One young woman, a teen, carries in her pocket at all times the 12 week baby model.  She shares her convictions with friends and, from her mother’s report to me, was recently asked by her school counselor to speak with a pregnant 15 yr old at her school who found herself “pregnant and afraid to tell mom and dad.”  The counselor said, “Before you get an abortion, talk with (name protected.)”
Young pregnant women want to see (and hold) the examples of the life in their womb.  Their smiles spread across their face and eyes and they call friends and father-of-the-baby to “come see, this is what my baby looks like now.”

The really young, elementary students, are fascinated to learn that they too were ‘once as small as the tiny 7-week model’ which is less than 1 inch long.  They want to see models in the womb, and understand about birth.

It’s this group that can change the world – take back life from the culture that dismisses the unborn.  It’s our duty, as elders, to be part of the education, given in love and in Jesus’ name.

Call PC Human Life to help tell the story.  Contact 40 days for Life to be part of the prayers.

Testimonies

*** I spoke with literally hundreds of people over the course of the weekend. Not a negative one in the bunch. I saw many people come to the realization that an unborn child IS a human being. One example that stands out in my mind is that I saw a few very young girls walking around with buttons they had been given at the Planned Parenthood booth that said “SAFE SEX IS SEXY”. We are talking about little girls in the neighborhood of 10 – 13 years old. A group of about 6 or 7 of them walked by our booth and I invited them to look at the baby models. They were totally taken by the display. I gave them all rubber babies to take with them as well as development charts etc. Not long afterward they came back with more of their friends and were very excited about what they had learned and wanted their friends to see too. I also noticed they had ditched the Planned Parenthood buttons. It is totally awesome to see Gods hand at work. There is absolutely nothing that compares.

*** When our volunteers attended the Bates fair in April one woman came up to them and shared, "if only you’d have been here six weeks ago I wouldn't have had an abortion". Our worker did what she could to comfort her and referred her to post abortion counseling.   This only proves all the more that our presence and efforts in our communities are needed!

Davin and Glenda Wiffler went to the Eatonville Health Fair in May. A Christian man in his late 20's shared how he had fathered a child at 15 and how this baby enriched his life and he could not be happier that has has this daughter, which has blessed him. We got to meet his daughter and she was helping him in an outreach ministry through his church. He was happy to be a father and we got to meet his teenage girl.

A pastor from the town stated during his time as a pastor has counseled so many hurting women that had abortions and wished that they could turn back the time and not have aborted their babies.  Many families said they were happy we were there and asked if we would come back next year. Our answer is yes, we will.

Davin Wiffler and a volunteer went to TCC's Health Fair, surrounded by women in training for nursing and medical students.  About 65 people stopped to talk. One was a pregnant woman. Many saw the facts of fetal development and all said they liked the booth. One man asked how he could help us in Pro-life. We were told that they were happy we were there.  The facts of life were shared with many and a few men also stopped to look and ask questions. Some women stopped and held the unborn baby models and laughed or smiled. One woman about to be a nurse said, "How can they say it is not a baby?"

You can help us share Pro-life truths and values in our state and volunteer or donate your money or time.
Each year it has gotten better and better for LIFE, you can make a difference in our community and Pierce County.
